Theatre: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
All throughout high school I participated in theatrical shows. From the lead role in High School Musical to writing, producing and directing my own show, theatre is a hobby I care about deeply. It brings me so much joy to express myself on the stage and transform into another character.
Now that I am in college, I do not have as much time to participate in theatre, but I am an active theatre goer. However, last year I was able to star in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. The show was produced by the Kenan Theatre Company which is a professional theatre company for amateur actors.
I played the role of Cecily Cardew, the love interest of Algernon whom she thinks is Earnest. If you are not familiar with the story, I assure you that it is full of the satire, comedy and drama that is characteristic of Oscar Wilde.
This show was directed by Lori Mahl who is a Broadway trained director. Through this experience I learned so much more about the art of theatre and acting and I am so grateful to have performed with so many talented people.
The show ran from March 1 through 4 in 2018.
